THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR
El REINO DE LOS CIELOS ESTÁ CERCA
As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:7-8)
(Mateo 10:7-8)
The Holy Scripture
The Holy Scriptures are (is) the Word of Yahweh. Apart from these writings, there is no other writing of heavenly or divine origin. The Scriptures, as the Word of Yahweh, are infallible (dependable, unfailing, foolproof, reliable, sound, fail-safe, trustworthy, solid, sure, certain, perfect, flawless) and perfect for educating, teaching and/or instructing and there is no need for anyone to add or subtract from it. In the Scriptures we can find the perfect revelation of the will of the Almighty Eternal One toward His creatures (human beings) and the great plan of redemption and salvation for all the mankind. The Holy Scriptures, by having Yahweh as it’s’ author, are in nature immutable (unchallengeable, absolute, incontrovertible, indisputable, undeniable, irreversible, unchangeable, permanent, not flexible) and eternal (everlasting, undying, unending, perpetual, endless, timeless, infinite, immortal, never-ending). Not a “yod” nor a “tittle” of what it’s written in the Holy Scriptures will cease (leave out, drop off, give up, forget) from being accomplish (carry out, fulfill, perform, reach) or until all is fulfilled according to the perfect will of the Almighty One.
What is a YOD (yud, yodh, jot) and TITTLE:
• YOD (yud, yodh, jot): The 10th and smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet. Has the sound of “y” in “Yes”.
• TITTLE: (stroke, dot, iota): Similar to the dot on a small “i” or “j”.
The Holy Scriptures make the following references:
-
Psalm 119:73י YOD Your hands have made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments. (NKJ)
-
Matthew 5:18 18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah (teaching, law – the first 5 books of Moses, the Pentateuch: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) — not until everything that must happen has happened. (CJB)
-
Matthew 5:18 18 I say to you very seriously that as long as heaven and earth exist, neither the smallest letter nor even the smallest stroke of a pen will be erased from the Law until everything there becomes a reality. (CEB)
-
Matthew 5:18 18 For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass. (DARBY)

*Tanakh - acronym formed from the first letters of the three parts of the Hebrew Scripture: Torah, Nevi’im and K’tuvim. Hence, the “old testament”, “scriptures” or “it is written” in most translations of the New Testament. The reason the New Testament Writers cite the Tanakh so frequently is that they understand it as Yahweh’s authoritative Word to mankind. Mt. 4:4+.
**Mitzvoth – pl. Mitz vot – literally: “command,” “commandment”; more broadly: general principle for living. Mt 5:19+.
***Torah – literally, “teaching,” but usually translated “Law” because Greek uses nomos (“law”) to render Hebrew Torah.
-
The 5 books of Moses, the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), called the Written Torah. Mt. 5;17. (2) That plus the Nevi’im (Prophets) and k’tuvim (Writings), i.e., the whole Tanakh*. John 10:34.
-
That plus additional material (the Oral Torah) considered in varying degree authoritative in Judaism, Ga. 5:3.
-
Uncaptalized, Torah can be understood generically as “law” or “principle.” Rom. 7:21-8:2.
Torah-teacher-this term translates Hebrew sofer (pl. sofrim), corresponding to Greek grammateus, and usually rendered “scribe.” The first-century scribes were apparently non-ordained teachers of Torah. Mt. 2:4+.
